Nigeria aims for economic revitalisation through diversification

Date: Jun 28, 2024

Nigeria has declared its full commitment to revitalising its economy by diversifying into sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.

This strategic move aims to create a more robust and balanced economic structure. The announcement was made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, during an interview with Channel Africa.

Speaking at the 3rd Ordinary Session of the Sixth Pan-African Parliament held in Midrand, South Africa, Kalu highlighted the significant opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area.

He also discussed the economic implications of the naira's devaluation, the ongoing battle against terrorism, and the potential for agricultural expansion.

Emphasizing the administration's priorities, Kalu stated, "The elements that the administration wants to thrive are to ensure that the nation is healthy, provided for, and economically robust as it is supposed to be, and that policies around agriculture are fine-tuned by the current administration."
