The budget is set to be tabled in Parliament on Wednesday. This follows two failed attempts due to disagreements within the government of national unity, particularly between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA), over a proposed value-added tax (VAT) increase.
Speaking before departing for a State visit to the United States, Ramaphosa assured the nation that the budget process was now nearing completion.
"The budget is almost ready, the Minister of Finance is putting the final touches on the budget, and that is going to be presented on the 21st, so that is not a problem at all," he stated.
