The demonstration, organised by the graduates, is a protest against the current hiring practices that favour Grade 12 certificate holders over those with specialised law enforcement degrees and diplomas.
The marchers, exceeding 200 in number, are specialists in fields such as DNA Testing, Pathology, Traffic Management, and Public Policing.
Their collective aim is to present a memorandum of demands to both the Presidency and the City of Tshwane Metro Council, voicing their plea for employment preference as qualified graduates. "We are urging the government to prioritize our employment.
“It's unjust to overlook our qualifications in favour of Grade 12 holders. If our degrees and diplomas are not valued, then they should no longer be offered by universities," stated Mashudu Phalandwa, one of the protest's organisers.
The march underscores a growing frustration among graduates who find themselves sidelined in the job market, despite their advanced qualifications and readiness to serve in law enforcement capacities.
