SA to host African Mining Indaba 2025

Date: Jan 31, 2025

Cape Town, in South Africa's (SA) Western Cape province, is set to host the African Mining Indaba next week, bringing together industry leaders to tackle critical issues facing the sector, from decarbonisation to operational transformation.

This year's conference takes place amidst a complex economic landscape and growing demand for critical minerals, making discussions around sustainability and efficiency more crucial than ever.

Gerhard Bolt of Dss+ highlighted the key themes and expected outcomes of this pivotal event.

"The theme for the Mining Indaba 2025 is 'Future-Proofing Africa Mining Today,' and I think from a goals objective perspective, I really hope that mining can showcase to the world how we can lead in the green transition or revolution by not just providing minerals but also showcasing mining responsibility. The most pressing issues to be discussed will relate to mine health and safety, deep decarbonisation, and the state of the world and how we adopt and act on climate change," Bolt explained.
