Economist Elize Kruger says this upward trend points to strengthening economic activity as the second quarter closes. “We expect this positive movement to be reflected in the gross domestic product figures for quarter two, due for release in early September,” she explained.
Kruger noted that sectors like mining and manufacturing are performing well and are likely to boost the quarter’s growth. Confidence levels have also improved, alongside underlying structural strengths in the economy.
With transaction values rising, attention now turns to how these developments will influence SA’s overall economic outlook in the months ahead.
