Ruiters is a former Director-General at the Department of Trade and Industry.

His appointment comes as the government implements a broad range of economic reforms aimed at making SA more attractive to investors.

Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, “Ruiters will advise Ramaphosa on SA’s continuing investment drive, which is a principal component of the seventh administration’s focus on inclusive economic growth and job creation.”

“Government is implementing a broad range of economic reforms aimed at rendering SA more attractive and rewarding for domestic and international investors; advancing greater diversification of the economy and broadening SA’s integration into continental and global supply chains,” adds Magwenya.

Ruiters is also a former commissioner of the Competition Commission.
