The statutory body aims to strengthen the country's position as a prime destination for natural diamond trade and industry collaboration, amidst growing competition from synthetic diamonds.
In a bid to showcase the potential of the industry and drive much-needed economic recovery, the State Diamond Trader will host the inaugural South African Diamond Show in Cape Town next month.
The event is expected to highlight the opportunities within the natural diamond sector and promote SA as a key player in the global market.
Nosiphiwo Mzamo, Chief Executive Officer of the State Diamond Trader, emphasised the importance of job creation and skills development for the future of the diamond industry.
"Job creation and skills development is equally key towards the future of the diamond industry. As such, the South African Diamond Show will not only generate employment but support initiatives that promote skills development, capacity building, and empowering the next generation of industry professionals," Mzamo stated.
The South African Diamond Show is anticipated to attract industry stakeholders, investors, and professionals, providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. The event will also serve as a showcase for the country's rich diamond heritage and its commitment to sustainable and ethical practices.
