According to an official government statement, the project will see the production of 3.55 million metric tons of LNG annually over the next 30 years, sourced from the Rovuma Basin off the country's northern coast.
The project, estimated at a value of approximately $7.2 billion, is expected to begin production in the latter half of 2028.
Eni’s first FLNG plant, Coral South, commenced gas exports to Europe in 2022, marking a key milestone in Mozambique's efforts to tap into its vast offshore gas reserves. In addition to Eni's projects, other energy giants like ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies are pursuing LNG ventures in Mozambique, though their plans have encountered delays, largely due to security challenges in the region.
