The AGOA Forum, which rotates annually between the USA and an African country, will be held under the theme “Beyond 2025: Reimagining AGOA for an Inclusive, Sustainable and Prosperous Tomorrow”.
The forum will be preceded by a meeting of African Trade Ministers among others.
It follows a successful hosting of the 20th AGOA forum in Johannesburg last November that highlighted the vibrant regional value chains being developed with the African continent.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to engage important stakeholders including members of Congress, the United States Administration as well as the US business community.
The delegation is also expected to use the forum to push back against legislation that has passed the House of Representatives requiring a full assessment of the bilateral relationship between the US and South Africa over dissatisfaction with Pretoria’s foreign policy positions and their national security implication for the US.
The Bill has yet to be taken up by the Senate and would need to be signed by the President to become law.
