Energy regulator, National Energy Regulator of SA has confirmed its approval of the framework.

It will see independent power producers selling directly to Eskom or municipalities. 

Ramokgopa was addressing the media at Eskom headquarters in Sunninghill, Johannesburg. 

"What it’s going to do is accelerate private sector investment in relation to impart rooftop solar solutions. But also utility scale on generation is going to happen because we have created legal certainty. 

We have defined the rules on how you are going to import and export your electrons across the infrastructure of Eskom or municipalities whichever the configuration is."
