Government is working to create permanent jobs for youth: SA President

Date: Jun 11, 2025

As South Africa (SA) commemorates Youth Month under the theme "Skills for the changing world, empowering youth for meaningful economic participation," President Cyril Ramaphosa engaged with youth beneficiaries of key government programmes.

These include the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention and the Presidential Employment Stimulus, during an event held in Pretoria, Gauteng province.

Ramaphosa assured young people that government efforts are ongoing to secure more lasting job opportunities for the country’s youth.

"I am delighted that it is through you, young people, that we are doing this. Yes, I know that your own situation is not the most ideal. We are working very hard to create more permanent positions for you in many, many ways in the economy. But when government is dealing with this problem, it also initiates programmes like this one," said Ramaphosa.
