The partnership, pending approval from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency, is set to revolutionize connectivity in Morocco.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two operators will share their infrastructure and invest an initial $460 million over the next three years to deploy the 5G network. The joint investment aims to ensure efficient implementation while reducing costs associated with the network's rollout.
The partnership also entails the formation of two equal joint ventures responsible for deploying 5G optic fibre and towers across Morocco. By leveraging combined resources and expertise, Maroc Telecom and Inwi aim to accelerate the introduction of 5G technology, which is expected to enhance digital services, support emerging industries, and contribute to Morocco’s economic growth.
A Spokesperson for Maroc Telecom highlighted the transformative potential of the deal, stating, “This partnership is more than just a business arrangement, it is a step toward shaping Morocco's digital future and empowering our citizens with world-class connectivity.”
Meanwhile, an Inwi representative emphasized the collaborative spirit of the initiative, “By joining forces, we are not only sharing infrastructure but also a vision of technological innovation and progress. Together, we aim to bring Morocco to the forefront of 5G technology in Africa.”
