The event, held in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa (SA) is sponsored by ExxonMobil's STEM Africa initiative and forms part of a larger endeavour by the ExxonMobil Foundation and Junior Achievement Africa to nurture the next generation of scientific minds.
The competition, a new addition to the African Energy Week, highlighted the exceptional talents of high school students from across the continent.
These young innovators travelled to SA to present their projects before a distinguished panel of judges, including Alvin Abraham, President of the ExxonMobil Foundation; Katrina Fisher, Managing Director of ExxonMobil Angola; and Frank Kretschmer, Chairperson of ExxonMobil Mozambique.
The event not only offered a stage for these students to display their creative solutions but also served as a networking hub, connecting them with industry stalwarts and opening doors to future career paths.
Participation in the event promises the students not just a chance to contribute to the energy sector but also provides them with invaluable international exposure and a glimpse into the industry's evolving landscape.
