The conference aims to address the sanitation needs of about 4 billion people who lack access to sewer systems and rely on pit latrines and septic tanks.

The WRC estimates that poor sanitation has cost Africa millions of United States Dollars in health and environmental impacts. The conference will showcase research and innovation for off-grid sanitation solutions and share scientific knowledge and best practices.
