According to police, the two were arrested after field rangers on patrol discovered tracks of four individuals, two of the other suspects managed to flee.

One of the suspects is a former field ranger who had previously worked in the park and was dismissed in 2021 for conspiracy to commit a crime, a matter still being heard in the province’s Skukuza Regional Court.

Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson, Jabu Ndubane says the former ranger was found wearing a ranger uniform. Ndubane says they were also found in possession of one impala head, one dead warthog, and seven snares

They are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
