These jobs will be between engineers, construction workers, train conductors, laborers, maintenance technicians and logistics specialists.
“Obviously there has to be training for each job and we are planning to get 100% local employees to operate the project”, he explained.
Shenounda added that the railway is also expected to create economic benefit of approximately $3 billion across both countries, reduce emissions by approximately 300 000 tons per year.
This comes after Angola and Zambia signed a concession agreement with the AFC for the infrastructure solutions provider to connect railway lines in both countries.
“Zambia Lobito Rail Project represents a game-changing development for the region, unlocking tremendous potential for trade, industrialisation, and socio-economic growth", said Shenouda.
He says the project involves the construction of approximately 800 kilometres greenfield rail line connecting the Benguela rail line in Luacano, Angola, to the existing Zambia Railways Line in Chingola, Zambia.
“Once completed, the trade corridor will facilitate the efficient movement of goods and promote investments in agriculture, health, digital infrastructure, mining, and electricity access along the corridor” he added.
