In a series of visits to sites in the capital city of Pretoria, the President is scheduled to visit the Sefako Makgatho Primary School in Saulsville, the SA Creative Industries Incubator in Eersterust, and the Foundation for Professional Development in Pretoria East.
These engagements aim to spotlight innovative public-private partnerships and models that are helping to provide dignified, high-quality employment and skills development opportunities for SA’s youth.
Ramaphosa is expected to interact directly with beneficiaries, educators, and implementing partners at each location. The visits will showcase how the PES and PYEI’s community-based, demand-led strategies are helping to reshape access to the labour market for some of the country’s most marginalised young people.
The day’s itinerary begins at Sefako Makgatho Primary School, part of the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI), one of the key components of the PES.
The BEEI addresses youth unemployment while simultaneously supporting the basic education system by placing young people in public schools as education and general school assistants.
This initiative is led by the Department of Basic Education and managed by the Industrial Development Corporation. It is designed not only to provide temporary employment but also to build pathways into longer-term work opportunities.
