This follows the alleged lack of communication between mine management and the families of the workers. O
This Monday, over 2 000 workers embarked on a sit-in protest underground. Some workers are understood to have begun resurfacing.
The National Union of Mineworkers’ Regional Chairperson Geoffrey Moatshe says they will be engaging with management again today in an attempt to resolve the employee's grievances.
“Workers that are underground are held against their own will, so we are now going to meet with management to try and come to a possible solution to say how then do we risk workers who are held against their own will. It is no longer an honest sit in that demands their issues to be addressed. It is a hostage situation,” Moatshe said.
