This comes as calls are mounting for the integration of SA’s fragmented transport sector to better serve commuters and drive economic growth. Freight and aviation experts are attending the Southern African Transport Conference in Pretoria. The event will run until tomorrow.
“I found what the Minister had to say was pretty enlightening in the fact that she has reinforced the strategic position of ACSA as the primary provider of airport infrastructure in the country,” said Heeger.
“And also in the medium-term development framework, two of the target growth areas are aviation routes and freight growth. The targets are aggressive, but it means total coordination across the whole of the sector is going to be needed to meet those targets by 2029.”
