SO MUCH FOR MARCH!

 

 

Johannesburg – Friday, 05 March 2021 - SABC Sport audiences can look forward to an adrenaline-charged line-up of local and international sporting action for the month of March.

 

Starting this Saturday, 06 March, SABC Sport will broadcast the much anticipated “El Kaapico” between Cape Town City FC and Stellenbosch FC, also known as the Cape Derby, in the DSTV Premiership match of the week, live on SABC 1 & SABC Radio Stations at 15:00.

 

Later on Saturday evening, Kaizer Chiefs will continue their quest for the first victory in the CAF Champions’ League group stage when they take on Petro de Luanda from Angola. The match, which kicks off at 18h00, will be streamed live on sabcsportonline.co.za, the SABC Sport channel on DTT and TelkomOne platforms.

 

On Saturday night, the footballing world will come to a standstill in the mother of all footballing rivalries, where the very best of German excellence takes centre stage in the Bundesliga. SABC Sport will be showcasing - Der Klassiker, also known as the “German Classico” between Germany’s two most successful football clubs FC Bayern Munchen and Borussia Dortmund. The game will be broadcast live at 19:00 on SABC 3, and streamed on the sabcsportonline.co.za immediately after the Kaizer Chiefs vs Petro de Luanda match. Audiences can also view the match on the SABC Sport Channel on DTT and TelkomOne platforms.

 

Finally, in time for International Women’s Day, SABC Sport will conclude the weekend with the return of the Barclays FA Women Super League. Our match of the week features Manchester City women - who have won their last 6 matches - up against the current number 5, Everton Women. The game will be broadcast live on SABC 3, the SABC Sport Channel on DTT, TelkomOne, and streamed live on sabcsportonline.co.za, on Sunday, 07 March at 16:00.

This weekend, our audiences will be treated to two of the most exciting footballers currently, when Robert Lewandoski takes on Erling Haaland in the Der Klassiker”, commented Gary Rathbone, Head of SABC Sport.

 

“We have also noted the insatiable appetite for CAF Champions League matches from our audience, who want to follow the progress of their favourite teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs. Therefore, we have gone out of our way to bring the best of CAF content to them,” added Rathbone.

 

“In celebration of International Women’s Month, we continue to offer the biggest women’s football league in the world, the Barclays FA Women’s Super League”, concluded Rathbone.”

 

For the rest of March, audiences can look forward to the Nedbank Cup Quarter-finals, more matches from the Bundesliga, including potential title decider between Bayern Munchen and RB Leipzig, the FA Women’s Super League, and the DSTV Premiership with the fourth and final Soweto Derby of the season when Kaizer Chiefs takes on rivals Orlando Pirates.

 

In the FA Cup quarterfinals, audiences will be treated to the FA Cup title favourites Everton, who will take on Manchester City, and the Foxes of Leicester City, who will meet the Red Devils of Manchester United. Bafana Bafana will lock horns with their old continental rivals, Ghana, battling it out for qualification of AFCON 2021. This match will be live on SABC TV, SABC Radio Stations and streamed live on sabcsportonline.co.za.
