Pillay is also set to represent the University Sport South Africa (USSA) team at the World Student Games in Germany from the July 16 to 27. Pillay has told SABC Sport he is feeling fit and ready to resume his season as he sets his sights on competing at his second World Senior Championships in Tokyo, Japan, later this year.
Pillay explained that he had to withdraw from Team SA that won gold in the Men's 4x400m final at the World Relay Championships in China in May as a precaution to avoid worsening his injury.
“Let me run the heats because I could gauge with more experience and read the race, and when going into the final I did feel il flare up and I told the team I don’t ant to be the weak link and rather let the other guys run. It as a hard decision to make withdraw but did it to reverse me for the rest of the season.”
