This was revealed by medical experts who conducted the first Infection Prevention Control (IPC) survey in the country and presented the results in 2022.
They urged the government to increase funding for the IPC programme, which they said would improve health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs and promote universal health coverage.
The experts also highlighted the impact of COVID-19 on the health, social and economic well-being of the nation.
They said that nurses and doctors were exposed to various diseases while on duty and needed adequate protection and support.
